David Schutte

David Schutte was born in Crouch End, North
London.  Brain surgeon, pop singer and Olympic athlete are just a few of the things he never achieved.

He worked for twenty years in the computer
services industry, and more recently as a financial adviser.  He is now a specialist children's
bookseller, selling collectable editions of favourite children's books, including Enid Blyton, Elinor M Brent-Dyer, Anthony Buckeridge, W.E.Johns,
Richmal Crompton, Malcolm Saville, Rupert, Beano, Dandy etc etc.

The first book in the Naitabal Mystery series was published by Pan Books in 1993 under the title Mud Pies and Water-bombs, reprinted and re-titled in 1996 as Danger, Keep Out! as more books in the series were published by Macmillan Children's Books.

David has also had some success as a playwright.  First performed in 1969, and published in 1977, his one-act comedy A Bite of the Apple is regularly performed by amateurs.  It was recently translated into Welsh and won the Welsh National Eisteddfod short play
competition in Bala in 1997.

He is currently working on more novels for the junior and prep school ages, and is
planning to add more titles to the Naitabal mystery series.

He has visited over 100 schools and other organisations to give talks on writing, and would welcome enquiries from any group who would like a lively presentation on what it's really like to write children's books today.

He now lives in Hampshire with his wife and children.
